Let Sleeping Vets Lie, a self-written autobiography by James Harriet is one of the most interesting, enjoyable, inspiring and entertaining books I have ever read.
James Harriet was a veterinary surgeon by profession. In this book he tells about his experiences during the time he had practiced as a vet in Yorkshire dale. One thing that makes this book so enjoyable is the humor it generates. The author makes the reader roar with laughter by dramatically expressing the funny side of the behavior of his animal patients, their masters, and even him self! He puts the incidents in to words in a very fine manner. The book has such a capability of picturing the natural beauty of the countryside of Yorkshire. The reader feels himself living in the very area as he reads through. Those who love nature and animals will be delighted to read this book. Another good quality of the book is the way it tells you how some people face their lives. You will find some real life characters in this book, including the author himself, getting on with their lives, with determination, courage, and perseverance, in spite of lives many burdens, obstacles, and disasters. This is not a book that one reads, puts aside and forgets. This is s book which will not only amuse you but also will have a positive influence on you.
