How fun is a multiplayer game of Mario Kart Wii?
Picture this : you're controlling Mario's favorite go kart-style car, and you're lagging at second place on the final lap. You're gaining speed, and the player in first place is in sight. You know you will be able to pip them on the next bend, as fast turn drifts are your skill. The bend approaches, you're right at their tail. You hit the gas and reverse at the same time. You turn your wheel and drift just past them.
Such is the fun that can be had in a multiplayer match of Mario Kart Wii. You won't be playing with the PC AI. You'll be fighting against live people from varying regions of the Earth. They're living, breathing, cognitive players who will react in turn to the scenarios presented by each round. This makes every game tougher, and ultimately, more rewarding.
Do you yearn to become a master Mario Kart Wii player? These are a few tips which will assist you improve your game:
- Master the 'rocket start.' This is a staple of every Mario Kart game. Successfully performing the rocket start will give you an early edge in the round. To perform the rocket start, press the gas button as soon as the timer counts down to 2. You need to perfect your timing however, as being inaccurate for only a millisecond will ruin the skill.
- Collisions are bad. As much as possible, avoid colliding with other racers as this will slow down your speed and it'll take time before you build up to your peak once again. Rather than racing side-by-side with another player, try to tail them, so you'd know where they are. Then overtake your opponent when your boost power is prepared. By doing this, you will be way ahead of them and out of collision range when the boost relents.
- Either learn the way to drift or learn the way to ease off the gas button. Most players are plain impatient. They need to step on the acceleration at all times and run over every obstacle in a track, including walls on corners. However, you will not be ready to pull off most turns at high speed. You will have to learn the way to drift or let go of the gas command to slow you down a little, enough to make the sharp turns found in Mario Kart Wii.
