Editorial Guidelines for Submitting Articles to Cixx.com

The following editorial guidelines have been formulated to ensure a high level of consistency and integrity in the posting of content.  By adhering to these guidelines, you will save us and yourself a lot of time and hassle and ensure a positive experience for our site users and a positive reflection on you as an author.  Please read this section thoroughly before submitting content.  Our site relies on the strict adherence to these guidelines.

Disclaimer:  Please note that since cixx.com derives the revenue necessary to pay its bills from its modest levels of advertising revenue, you will find that our company posted content may contain additional affiliate links or advertising links which are prohibited in our editorial guidelines to third party authors. Yes, that is right. There is a different standard for company posted articles.  We won’t apologize for it. It’s how we keep the site free.  All third party authors MUST abide by our editorial guidelines for links and content. Thank you for your participation.

  1. General Article Standards:
    1. The article must be an original work. We will not accept plagiarized, borrowed, or reworked content.  We are looking for fresh, original, thought provoking content that is attributable exclusively to you.  Any submission that we determine has come from another source will be rejected.  Multiple submissions of the same or a slightly reworked article will also not be accepted.
    2. All articles must be informative, insightful, and useful for our readers. Articles cannot be blatantly self-serving or promotional in nature.  Our users expect and deserve helpful, information rich articles.
    3. All articles must be well written with a good flow and thought structure.  All articles must adhere to correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar conventions.
    4. Abusive, racist, pornographic, obscene, illegal, or offensive material will not be accepted. Cixx.com reserves the right to reject any submitted content at its discretion.
    5. Articles must not contain excessive or blatant keyword placement or excessive use of CAPS and Bolding.  Please let the content speak for itself. It takes a little more thought but in the end we have found that great content drives popularity and readership – not gimmicks.
  2.  Technical Standards
    1. Article Titles should be bolded but should not be submitted in all caps. The standard convention for titles is to capitalize the first letter of every major word. Words like and, the, of, etc. should not be capitalized.  The title MUST describe accurately the content of the article. Bait and switch techniques – where the content is different than what the title promises - only lead to frustration, a poor user experience, and a poor reflection on you as an author.
    2. Author Name must be your name, we do not accept email addresses, initials, etc. in lieu of a name. Pen names are acceptable, but only one author name per user account is allowed.
    3. Article Body should be somewhere between 250 words and 1,000 words. If your article is longer than 1,000 words please consider submitting two articles. Our readers like to read focused material on a specific topic or aspect of a topic. A good rule of thumb for article length would be between 400 and 700 words in length.  The article body should not include excessive promotional information and should never contain any self-serving links. The purpose of the article should be to provide real information to our users.
    4. Author Links may, at the author’s option, be placed at the end of each article. There is a limit of two links per article. All links must be to a relevant site.  No links to abusive, racist, violent, pornographic, illegal, or offensive sites will be allowed. No broken links will be accepted.
    5. Article Summaries should be written for all articles. Article summaries should be short (between 2 and 5 sentences) and concise. They should help the reader understand exactly what your article is about and what they will gain by reading it. Please spend some time providing quality article summaries. These are used extensively by our readers to determine whether or not they will read your entire article.
    6. An Article Category should be selected for all articles submitted. Properly categorizing your articles will ensure that the articles are served up to users in the appropriate location on the site.
