Music is one of my favorite pastimes. I have an eclectic taste in music. When I was a teenager, I took up the five string banjo and still like to pull out my Gibson bluegrass banjo when I can today. Of course, that was in the days of hee-haw and the movie Deliverance, which brought the 5 string banjo to a new level of prominence with the hit song Dueling Banjos. That was probably the thing that inspired me the most. Since that time, I have taken up a bit of guitar, toyed with the mandolin and purchased a Yamaha baby grand piano for my kids to learn on. As my kids have grown older they have migrated to their own preferences in musical instruments. I think at last count we had eight guitars kicking around the house electric and acoustic. Like I say, I like to encourage them. We have had saxophones, and a drum set. Lately I have taken up a bit of composition. Music is one of my most anticipated indulgences and frankly one of my escape mechanisms along with the writing I do on this site.
